McCoy

Privacy policy

This privacy policy covers McCoy, a text-message service that checks whether videos, stories, pictures, and messages are real or fake.

What we collect

Your mobile number, your first name if a family member gives it to us, the messages, links, and pictures you send us to check, and the replies we send. If you agree to family alerts, we also store your family member's name and number. Family members who sign in on our website give us their name and mobile number.

How we use it

Only to check what you send, reply to you, send family alerts you've approved, and improve how accurate our answers are. To check items, we send their content to service providers that help us analyze them (an AI model provider and search tools). We choose providers whose terms don't let them use your content to train their models.

Text messages

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Mobile numbers and text-message consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

How long we keep it

The messages and pictures you send are deleted after 30 days. We keep a record of each answer we gave (without your personal content) to measure accuracy.

Your choices

Reply STOP to stop all texts. Reply STOP ALERTS to turn off family alerts. Reply HELP for help. To have your information deleted, reply HELP and ask.
